Congratulations, you’ve just secured a new role as a product manager! 🥳

Your first 90 days can be a frenzy. There usually is a lot of information that needs to be digested about the product, the company and how everything operates.

Your first 90 days of a new product management role are crucial, they are the ‘honeymoon period’ where everyone is welcoming and willing to help.

If it does not go well, you might feel like you just got hit by a bullet train. If it goes well, it sets you up for success with the product and your team.

How Do I Approach my First 90 Days?

Approach it like you are creating a product strategy. This includes setting a vision and determining the things you need to achieve to become successful in your first 90 days.

I have created a checklist based on the lessons I learned in my first 90 days and the things I learned from reading, researching and listening to stories about other product managers and their first 90 days.

As you reach the end of each checklist, write out the things you learned and things you should be aware of in the future.

Note: This list is not exhaustive. As the months go by, I will continue to update the checklist. To use this list, duplicate the page and edit as you please.

What is your 90 days vision?

I want to be completely absorbed in the product and establish myself as a credible product manager.
